Review of Impaled - Mondo Medicale

I know Impaled may have recieved some rave reviews with their previous effort, The Dead Shall Dead Remain, but I believe this album will help them explode into the extreme metal world. I've been listening to this album for four days straight now and I'm still not tired of it. I have a feeling this will be one of my top picks of the year. This is the best gore band I've heard since Carcass. If you're not already convinced about buying this album, hopefully you will be by the end of the dissection. The musicianship, oh the musicianship! This album contains killer drumming compliments of Raul Varela. He can carry all the speed and then slow down to throw out great beats all the way through the CD. Now we come to the guitars. You get all out speed and technicality with some riffs, great grooves can be found through-out, awesome melodies, accompanied by sweet solos. For the vokills, this band hits up the quickly growing trend of the tri-vokill attack with bands like Origin and Nile. Each member has his own distinct voice also. Andrew has a great raspy voice in the vain of the lead singer of Carcass, while Sean has a great death growl, while Ross Sewage provides the insanely low guttural vokills. I just can't get enough of this album. It's just one of those albums where just getting through the first track you know it's going to kick your ass. The production is very fluid on the album and fits its gore sound perfectly. The lyrics are good and at times funny, but I just can never really get totally into the gore aspect of them. They just don't grab me, for whatever reason. Either way I don't care, this album rules! If I haven't convinced you to buy this album yet, then I don't know what else to do, but if you don't buy it, you'll be missing out on one of the greatest death metal releases of the year. With songs like Dead Inside, Operating Theatre, Choke on It, and To Die For how could anyone pass this up? Plus you get to look at the utterly disgusting cover of the album and check out the funny promo photos of the band inside (Ross Sewage's is my favorite, hilarious). I have Impaled fever and I don't want the cure! Must have more *cough, choke, vomit* Impaled! *cough*
