Ultimate Death Worship

8.1

Limbonic Art has quickly stormed onto the black metal scene with an ever growing fan base. I believe with their latest album Ultimate Death Worship it may be their finest hour. The two man band has assembled quite an album here. Morfeus and Daemon seem to be musicians with a vision, and what a vision it is. Each release from Limbonic Art has gotten significantly better, and Ultimate Death Worship is no different. Their brand of symphonic black metal is something to behold. Even as I listen to this album right now, some of the pounding riffs and great keyboards send chills down my spine. Morfeus and Daemon bombard you with great guitar riffs throughout the entire album. Some of my favorites are contained within the first song, Ultimate Death Worship. I imagine this would make a great live song. It's got some really brutal parts in it, along with some great black metal ferocity. I can't really say much about the drums here, because I imagine it's the same as with their older material which uses a drum machine. This seems to work out great for the band since the two members really don't need anyone else in the mix write with them since in it's entirety they are the band. I believe other members would just detract from what is Limbonic Art. The keyboards make a little bit of a bigger leap forward then from past releases. I really like it too. They do a great job with the programming. There's some really haunting stuff found throughout the album along with Daemon's voice. This guy was meant to sing black metal. His vokills fit the recording perfectly. It has a very raw and evil feel to it. I regret to say I could not find lyrics for the album in time for publication of this dissection, but when I do come across them I will have the dissection edited. From what I've picked out on my own from the album the lyrics do sound phenomenal. My one complaint with this album again is the production. Although it is some of the best production I've heard with Limbonic Art I still feel they could get rid of that raw feeling a bit more. Once they do I would put money down on it that it will be a black metal masterpiece, although Ultimate Death Worship seems to be shaping up that way. That seems to be the only real thing holding this album back. Other than that this album is a simply amazing testament to that which is black metal. You cannot deny the power and force that is Limbonic Art and this release only reaffirms that. Buy this album now, you will not be disappointed. You'll be thrown into the abysmal feeling of songs like the epic ten minute Towards the Oblivion of Dreams, and the crushing From Shades of Hatred (which Attila Csihar, who did the vokill work on the legendary De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas with Mayhem, lends his vokill talents too). I already can't wait for the next release from this astounding duo. On one last note, if you ever get a chance to see them live, don't pass it up. I saw them at Metalfest in 2001 and they put on a great live show. Their live show feels really epic. Enough of me gushing though, buy this album.
