Now this is grindcore that is actually halfway pleasurable. I've been telling grind goons to listen to Leng Tch'e and Harakiri if they don't want to keep eating the same bowl of dog food every damn day, but apparently my werds can't penetrate the fortress of bricks barricading their brains. Here's what's cool about Leng Tch'e: They mate "tongue in cheek" humor w/ some of the most blasting brute out-of-line musical behavior ever heard. Number one here these guys know what good production sounds like. I put it in my car 1st and I had to turn the bass down 4 notches because the kick drum threatened to rip the subs to hair-thin shreds. And these guitars..They sound like a fucking Mack truck downshifting down steep-grade w/ a maximum capacity load in tow. Sooper downtooned and utterly bowel-loosening is an understatement and if you listen to them in any confined space on any system w/ a bass knob you'll feel your ears vibrating back & forth trying to catch all the detuned power blasted upon them. Lots of mechanikill machine gun blast beets similar to Aborted's new material as well.
There's something highly amusing about belching out guttural gobs while grunting about some of the most common everyday bullshit. The music is so scathing and so intense, yet you read the lyrics and see the song titles and it's just like one big prank. "Tackling issues" where the answers are so obvious yet so many people just don't see it (God=Mass Hysteria) to just hilarious everyday dumbass stoopidity (Too Stupid to Live) to pure disgust (You Fat Prick), this material is just plain fucking funny as hell. "Sick Brutal Gore Bastard" takes the cake because it defines so many goons who are into the serial killer shit and being "evil". Leng Tch'e hits the target and right in the center I might add. When you're listening to grind you know when it's Leng Tch'e because, well, you hear Sven from Aborted, but you also hear these ginormous guitar breakdowns, but they've got this "swing" groove type feel to them. I don't know how to describe it but it was also prevalent in Death By A Thousand Cuts. It's a trait of their own and when you put such detuned guitars to such a swing grove it's horrifying in the best possible way. You'll hear it about 30 seconds into track #2 "Public Enema Number 1" as well as 40 seconds into "Too Stupid to Live". That's the type of groove I'm talking about. It is everywhere in the album and I love it.
Obviously Leng Tch'e hasn't produced album of the year material or hasn't presented any foreign or unknown concepts to metal here but they have given us a gravity defying kick in the ass w/ hysterical songwriting in an immensely heavy method. I really like the guttural vox alternating w/ trademark grindcore hollering but after a few listens you'll notice the screaming patterns are EXACTLY the same in each song they occupy. I doubt they are trying to evolve their style too much so they probably don't give a phuck about that but it's something I noticed and it became mildly annoying. But in the end this grind album turns any Nasum album into a wheelbarrow full of goose shit, plain & simple. Play "God=Mass Hysteria" 1 time and my point will be proven. And that song has actually stooped to Nasum's level by using 2 riffs and being only 1 minute long. Verdict? ManMadePredator gets The 'Haz recommendation.
