The Ghost Inside
Fury And The Fallen Ones
6.1
I swear, for every all you can eat buffet the fat chick from The Gossip puts out of business, Los Angeles craps out another dozen metalcore bands. The Fury and the Fallen Ones is the debut from one of LA’s freshest turds, The Ghost Inside. No funny colors or chunks of corn or anything of particular interest really, they’re pretty much your average log.
No more shit jokes, I promise. Imagine a Hopesfall and Unearth collaborative effort and you have the basic formula for what The Ghost Inside does. There are plenty of heavy breakdowns; mostly generic and almost always with a cheesy lead-in riff. The vocals are the typical forceful hardcore yell with little to offer in terms of diversity or melody. The guitars however do offer some variety via a keen melodic edge often reminiscent of Hopesfall. For the most part, the songs are an even mix of the band’s elements, which makes the album more homogenized than consistent, if you read me.
The songwriting and production are professional through and through, and the melodic energy present is almost enough to make the album noteworthy, but in the end The Ghost Inside’s sound is just too generic to get excited about.
