Once again I must make a comment about the French metal scene. I had no idea it was growing so fast. Until about the last year or so I could not have named one metal band I knew from France, but they just seem to be coming out of the cracks now. The stuff I've heard coming from the area is rather impressive too I might add. Furia is a metal band that combines a nice mix of some neo-classical black metal with some melodic death, and do so quite nicely I might add. I don't know much about the band since their website is in French only at this point. But Un Lac de Larmes & de Sang is their second full length album.
Furia takes heavy influence from both the Finnish metal scene and of course the Swedish. Although this is very symphonic metal, the guitars lead the charge through the album most often with harsh melodies and some surprisingly brutal riffs. At times I even got hints of the mighty Children of Bodom and Kalmah and there's nothing wrong with that. The vokills take quite a change throughout. At times they are heavy on the effects for the deeper vokills and the raspy black metal ones often reminded me of Sakis from Rotting Christ. Also, there are female vokills on a few tracks that add to the black metal vibes of the album.

Occasionally some clean vokills make an appearance that are well done and add yet one more difference. The keyboards often provide ambience and don't play a main part in the music, although they will come to the forefront at times.
Strong musicianship along with some clear cut production make Un Lac de Larmes & de Sang a strong effort worthy of looking into. Furia doesn't bring anything wholly new to the table, but what's provided is solid metal from the land of wine and cheese.
