Droid is Munky's (the guitarist from Korn) first signing on his brand new label Emotional Syphon. As the story goes, he caught the band at the Whiskey in Cali and "immediately signed them as his label's flagship act". So either this is one of them bands that kills live and is so-so on disc or the boyz from Korn are still doing lots and lots of drugs.
If there were no other music ever created the review might be better for Droid’s self titled debut. The musicianship is above average, vocals good, engineering and production all above par; it just isn’t anything new. The album didn’t impress me at all. It is okay. Mediocre only for its lack of anything that stands out. If you love the above mentioned bands and think a blender full might suit your hunger then by all means give it a spin otherwise…BLAH!
