The Cursed
Room Full Of Sinners
7.1
This album is a 70’s style bluesy metal fan's wet dream. Okay maybe not wet but damp for sure. The Cursed finally unites old friends Dan Lorenzo, the infamous guitarist from Hades, with one of my all time favorite screamers, Bobby “Blitz” from Overkill. Slathered in thick, stony riffs Blitz showers us with metallic blues from tune to tune on Room Full Of Sinners. The album is top heavy with its best tracks on the first half and gets a bit goofy with Ellsworth hitting the high notes on a track you will find later on down the line. I’ll let you figure out what song I am talking about. Hint: when your head starts to involuntarily contort and you notice a disturbed yet puzzled look on your face…you found it.
Lorenzo’s riffage is awesome for this style of music. The rhythm section was culled from such groups as Murder 1 and Non Fiction and does a fine job of holding things together while Blitz goes from Black (Sabbath) to Deep Purple in the color scheme with the solid hue of blue in between. There is even a saxophone thrown in just in case we weren’t sure they were going for the blues thang.
Overkill and Hades fans will probably find themselves entangled in a love it or hate it relationship with this one. If you like this sort of style I say it is damn good fun (at least the first half) and worth a spin.
