In the midst of all the new-school thrash bands like The Haunted, Dew Scented and The Crown, there emerges King's Evil from Japan. These guys are all about old-school thrash. I hear mostly old-school German thrash like Kreator and Sodom in here, but there's also a bit of the bay-area stuff too. They don't break any new ground with this album, so to speak, but they just totally shred. Let me start off by saying, the Yamada brothers know what they're doing with their axes. There are some really cool riffs on here, not to mention the wicked solos. Everything you could love about old-school thrash is found in this album, start to finish. Wataru Yamada does a great job with the vokills. He reminds me a bit of Tom Angelripper from Sodom. I love the great sing-along choruses especially in the final track, Scream. After only getting about half way through the album I was ready to break out the air guitar and play along. The production on the album is very solid sounding. The one thing that's a bit awkward about the album is some of the lyrics are a bit weird, suggesting they don't have the best fluency in English. That doesn't detract from this killer debut though. If you like thrash, you must own this album, I can't stress that enough. I can't wait to see the next offering this band serves up. It's time to break out the bullet belts and let the thrash attack begin!
