Shadows From the Past

It was a cold, snowy December night in a forest in Scandinavia. Suddenly, a horrible noise arose from the timbers and animals ran outwards from one central point. That central point was....Nehëmah!! Yes folks, Nehëmah is a classic black metal band, straight from the icy tundras of France? That Champagne region sure must have some harsh winters, not to mention epic swordplay. Well I guess you don't have to be Norwegian to be a black metal artist, you just have to have a black heart. There is no shortage of hatred for mankind in the ranks of Nehëmah, you can be sure of that. Nehëmah is as TRVE and KVLT as it gets. The production is absolutely and utterly TERRIBLE, I'd swear the guitarist was playing a lawnmower and/or a chainsaw. You can't even hear the drums, just the mighty crash of a thousand cymbals (or are they trash can lids?), and the occasional thundering of a bass drum here and there. Classic grim black metal riffage here, creating a soundscape of a desolate ice world. Other than being horribly horrified by how ridiculous Nehëmah is, I must say I had a relatively good time listening to the album. It's not a keeper, nor is it even good, but it is definitely good for a laugh. I guess when you're pure evil, you don't need good production, musicianship or even any talent. This is awful, or should I say awfvl. They are the very definition of "trve" black metal, "trve" meaning crap, of course. Even the way we describe them as "true" is badly produced. Wrathchild's Choice Cuts: None, really. The last track is a bad Bathory cover though (Call from the Grave).
