This album will be in my top 5 list by the end of the year my friends. Not only did Severed Savior kick me over backwards in my chair upon 1st listen, they also went on to disfigure my appearance w/ numerous steel-toed brutal death metal boot stomps to my face while I was still down. I knew that they were on Unique Leader Records and I also knew they played brutal death, but I had no idea that they were this intricately technical. Their riffs can turn a 180 and completely change time before they’ve run their entire course. This kind of songwriting brings a smile to my face. It’s highly creative, challenging, and shows that mass amounts of thought and practice have been poured into the metal. Brutality is Law presents fine pieces of brutal death while maintaining the aspects of listenability and musicality. Very enjoyable and highly uncommon riffing coupled w/ muscular breakdowns over the non-stop double-bass kick make for a thoroughly exhausting experience. Short’n’sweet soloing as well as perfect production raise this album into millennium standards of completeness. So once again it looks as if the “Unique Leader Family” has spawned another genetically superior death metal prodigy. This is my kinda stuff and I thank Satan every day for the existence of Unique Leader because they seem to know exactly what I’m looking for when it comes to quality metal that is worth every penny the metal fan pays for it. I’m thinking they put their talent scouts through a vigorous 4 year training program that specifies exactly what it is that they are about and what they are looking to present to the metal community. Yeah, I’m sure this sounds like total shameless Unique Leader plugging but I assure you that we don’t even have them on board here at MetalReview yet. It just so happens that they have some of the absolute best metal out there and the majority of it seems to be undiscovered, so obviously it calls for a few reviews here and there. Brutal death seems to be pushing the envelope more and more w/ the arrival of the millennium. Complex riffing, dizzying time changes, blazing speed and the recognition of good production give the listener much to absorb and more to expect w/ each new band and each new album they produce. Get yourself this album from an amazing band and find yourself living under the Law that is Brutality.
