Beyond Decimation

Synopsis:
Yet another 3 song demo from a myspace band calling themselves death metal (or melodic grind in this band’s case).
Review:
Hot of the heels of Arbiter, The Burning, and If I Had Eyes, comes a roughly produced but admittedly promising 3 song demo that has the most potential of all the myspace deathcore demos I have heard recently.
What gives Beyond Decimation a slight edge is some solid, classical, noodly solos amid the expected rumble and lope of the hardcore/death metal/grindcore menage a trois. Despite a rather shoddy production, (but for a self produced demo it gets the job done) and cliched scream/ultra low growl vocals, the three tracks are certainly listenable and have a certain potential factor I can’t quite put my finger on.
You can look at the band's myspace listed influences to get a quick dirty idea of the band’s sound (Necrophagist, Beneath the Massacre, The Black Dahlia Murder, Job for a Cowboy, Arch Enemy, Misericordiam, In Flames, Neuraxis, All Shall Perish, Death), but further listening, especially the rather nifty, flamenco interlude for “Catharsis”, shows a band willing to play with that list of expected influences, something I hope the band continues to do.
