Anyone else sick to death of generic hardcore? It seems that any 14 year old kid with enough anger towards their parents for grounding them and not letting them blow bubbles in their chocolate milk can form a generic-as-hell hardcore band. Yes, Killswitch Engage did it successfully. NO, that does not mean that because you are kinda mad at things, that you can too. So you think you can scream and cry yet you also have a beautiful melodic choir boy voice so you can do clean vox and hardcore vox? Uh, okay, just do it in the privacy of your own home and stop bitching. There are so many bands now that are JUST LIKE Caliban, they are literally a dime a dozen. I'm tired of saying "well it's good, but nothing special". From now on I say "YOU SUCK, STOP FUCKING COPYING KILLSWITCH". Anyone in the god damn world can write a nice little catchy riff and match it up to the scream-then-talk-then-whine vocal style. It is just so tearfully BORING now! I don't know about anyone else, but I am thoroughly tired of the whole "I'M SO FUCKING HARDCORE AND PISSED OFF THAT I AM GOING TO SHOW YOU OVER AND OVER" thing. As for the music, yea the classic semi-melodic hardcore riffing plus chaotic drums played by a bunch of teens with nothing better to do than play the Fender Squire or $300 Yamaha drum kit their parents got for them for Christmas from the local K-Mart. I'm sorry for Caliban's sake that all of this has to come out, but maybe if they were not generic and boring they might have delayed the inevitable for a little longer, at least until the next kid got into a fight with his mom about taking the car out past 9PM and decided to make a hardcore band. Final words: Dime-a-fuckin-dozen. Period.
