Neuropathia

Bubba Luciferi

7.6

Synopsis:

If you, like me, prefer your grindcore less sloppy and more in the vein of Squash Bowels, Nasum, Gadget and such, and want a bit of Blood Duster-ish groove and irreverent humor, then Poland’s Neuropathia are for you.

Review:

Boasting that sort of Semi-Sunlight razor sharp buzz as the bands mentioned above as well as the expected dual screams/growls, obscure movie samples (i.e Aussie Horror classic, ‘Undead’ and ‘Naked Gun’) and mix of violent power chords and catchy grooves, Bubba Luciferi is as satisfying a grindcore album as I’ve heard all year.

The 18 short tracks are what you’d expect from this type of release, coming across as a more humorous version of label mates Squash Bowels and really aren’t so dissimilar from each other, with a slight difference in the chord progression or groove. Only “Confession” with its unusually catchy, yet seething structure stands as a true standout amid the satisfying calamity of down tuned trauma. That being said, all the other tracks deliver plenty of enjoyable grinding spurts of bliss; “Psychic Killer”, “Beware the Goat”, grooving “Dead Swine Army” and “Come Get Some”, blistering “Preachers of Grind” and rollicking “Denim Demon” are all simple, short sharp stabs of enjoyable, eligible grindcore that doesn’t take itself too seriously or try to be completely overdone.

As the band says; Nuns, Guns and Rock and Roll!

Good stuff.
