Outside We Are Fine

Alright, just under two weeks out of retirement and I guess it’s my turn to take one for the team. But before I begin my review I’d like to say that if this is the type of album bands and/or labels are going to come up with and feel the music contains some form of metal influence, then right back into retirement I will go because this band doesn’t even come close to delivering what the faithful readers of this site are seeking, myself included. This was for the most part an agonizing experience and one that I hope to never have to endure again.
So what makes the music created by You In Series so excruciatingly painful for me? Well, for starters, as soon as the vocalist started singing I couldn’t help but feel pity for the rest of the band as I envisioned them wanting to strangle him with a guitar cable. Are they doing this guy a favor by not telling him how they really feel about his voice, or do they truly feel he delivers the message this band is trying to get across to the world of music listeners? If that’s the case then You In Series can pack it in right now and call it a day as I don't see very many people attending the listening party. Outside We Are Fine is the name of this release, but inside things are far from fine as this music will leave a sour taste in the mouths of metal fans and music fans in general. What we have here are soft rock songs with pussy whipped vocals and lyrical concepts, and on the whole this band doesn’t sound the least bit metal. I generally like to give any type of music the benefit of the doubt and wait to judge it until I can fully understand it, because when all is said and done I am a fan of good music, not just metal. But that’s the problem…this is not good music as these songs are absolutely awful and I didn't hear one that I'd like to hear again. I guess I’d like to think they do this for personal enjoyment, which should always be the reason, and not to torture the listener, but if that’s the case then they definitely don’t have very high expectations out of their musical ability as is evident throughout this platter of rubbish.
Ultimately I cannot recommend this album to readers of this site not because of the simple fact this is not metal, but simply because it’s just not very good music. I’m sure it’s possible that somewhere out there in cyber space there may be a reviewer who actually liked this album and gave it a good review, but I would question that critic’s sanity and musical taste as much as I question the reason for this band’s existence.
