Lividity
'Til Only the Sick Remain
4.9
A near millennium production cannot & will not save Lividity from yet another droning slab of porn-gore deathgrind. I cannot help but wonder if Lividity is just content w/ rehashing their same material for the next album or if they may have a distant hope or concern w/ progressing their music even just a tad from where they were say 5 years ago. What "'Til Only the Sick Remain" serves up is exactly what has been served up in plentiful form & many, many times already by much more potent and interesting bands. Predictable "blasting" death metal w/ lame as hell samples to start the songs off. A couple of 3-chorded breakdowns poke through the surface of mundane-ness for a brief period and actually get the metal grimace forming, but they've all been heard before. This may have been somewhat fresh 10 years ago, but there are zero elements in Lividity's latest that actually spark an urge to pop it back in the player. If you are fairly new to the brutal death underground scene, and you have NEVER heard Suffocation before, then buy this and you may find some interest in it as well as some comical value to the lyrics and samples. Personally speaking, however, I'm just a little bit bored w/ the same ol' 2-3 minute blasts of guttural vocals and blast-beats w/ no creativity whatsoever..So far, one of the best pieces of eye-rolling "blaaarrrrg's" I've heard this year.
