Sorry I been lagging. Funerals SOUND like a good time, but in practice dead relatives kind of cold shower your life.

Speaking of which….

Splatter Death. Fine and good. No problem with achingly moist and buzz heavy DM sounds on this PC. Of course there is the problem of saturation. And the problem of sacrificing power for moisture. And this release suffers from both these problems to the detriment of any positives. Shame, but that’s life in the big league, I suppose.

Take an overdose of Entombed/Sunny guitars, add some Tupperware drums and layer typically vomity vocals on top and you essentially have the Incarnated sound pegged. And when I say “Entombed/Sunny” I mean the mids have been sucked into a black hole during mastering. They are so not there they actually suck all the tone into the gravitational chasm they form in their wake. Unless you screw with your 48 channel graphic equalizer for a few hours you may as well just be listening to a crew chief tuning up the modified Merlin in an converted P-51 before a race at Reno. It’s a sweet sound, really, but it doesn’t make the music compelling, I am afraid. Maybe if the drums sounded more like .20’s or .50’s firing instead of plastic cups and silverware falling onto linoleum flooring in rhythm you could make something interesting out of this.

The songwriting is ultra average splatter death, lacking much of the character of industry powerhouses like Impaled et al. They aren’t bad, but they are entirely expected, entirely hack. Nothing here really grabs your attention or lodges in your head. It all kind of slips past you, leaving only various textures to remember it by. The lack of tone is the real culprit, making delineation between tracks a chore hardly worth the reward.

Bottom line is, unfortunately, just another splatter death record. Nothing to recommend it to the general metal fan, and nothing really for the gore connoisseur beyond the general fun of listening to a band that sounds like viral mitosis amplified and distorted. There are enough really great splatter discs out there that this one, although not a bad example, is not something I can get behind. Only for the hardline musiviscera collectors.
