I am a little tired today. It happens, sometimes. I find myself unable to get to sleep during the night and end up dragging miserably all day. Coffee makes it worse, exercise makes it worse and being awake makes it worse. But today what is really making it unbearable is this boring fucking record I am reviewing. L.O.S.T. play a Six Feet Under style of plodding death metal with a few keys for atmosphere. And they hit every mid paced cliché in the book, from the middle eastern flavoring of the second composition to how the drummer chooses to accent the rhythm with his double kicks. It has been a very long time since this kind of bullshit was compelling. Everything is in the same key, the pacing blends everything together and when the band does go for a slight changeup it’s almost precisely where and what you figured it would be.

With a production that sounds like a mastered demo, slapdash musicianship, simple riffs and time signatures, this album is so predictable and dull you quickly forget it’s even playing. You hear it but your brain is actually playing better records that this just sort of reminds you of. And unfortunately they are by Six Feet Under.

The bottom line here is that this band needs to get serious about their compositions and musicianship before expecting anyone to take them seriously. We metalheads live in a world of ferocity and technical brilliance - of compositional maturity and inspired performances and if any band wants to sit at this table, they need to bring something, at the very least, comparatively interesting to it. This record simply does not.
