I'm irritated at how short this review is, mainly because I feel like there's a lot to be said of Extinction Agenda, but I lack the expertise to analyze it bit by bit, and the demo lacks the necessary number of tracks to give me the greatest feel for the band in full. In the end, it doesn't matter, as all that needs to be said is that this is one of the better demos I've heard in some time.
Expressing their penchant for classic thrash ala Slayer, Kreator, and Exodus, Extinction Agenda are extremely proficient in replicating the sounds of the old and resurrecting them with a vigor rarely seen. Vocalist Voltanix, known for his work with Serpent Eclipse and December Wolves, has a vocal range which bears an undisputable similarity to Tom Araya's, minus the random shreikings. Their primary sound could be described as early Voivod paired with a nod to Pestilence. The leads are appropriate and clued in to the genre, giving a fine balance of swift musicianship with an expected and welcomed maniacal inflection. Although so short, there's enough discrepancy on the demo to intrigue me further as to where they'd end up after 35 minutes of material.
Comprised of only three songs, Extinction Agenda are using this demo as a chance to create a stir for an upcoming full-length, I'm hoping. It'd be a tragedy for a band revitalizing such a needed and much missed sound with such a no-nonsense attitude to fizzle away into nothing. To anyone reading this, please go check out the band's site and take a listen to the samples to give yourself a better idea of how worthy of your time this band currently is, and will continue to be in the future.
