Hailing from Spain, Necromance Record's Imbrue have offered up a 45-minute album of brutally brutal blargle blaaarg.
Sorry, this is really a strange album. That's all there is to it. Imbrue is basically your standard modern death metal act. With professed influences like Gorgasm and Deeds of Flesh, the seasoned death metal fan will find most of what these guys are doing pretty pedestrian. However, while the expected influences definitely serve as a general template, Imbrue have a slightly cockeyed approach to creation that accounts for a final product that is simply wacked.
Mixed and mastered by Samuel Ruiz (Human Minger, Wormed), Cado Datur Verbs is a piercingly top heavy album. With the bass player a mere phantom who only appears to add a degree of resonance to the occasional pit riff, the brunt of the hyper-speed, tremolo driven tracks are initially unsettling. I'm not sure if this was the artistic intention, but listening to CDV at the appropriate volume can be a pretty unpleasant and painful experience. Imbrue sound like they were commissioned by a nuclear power plant to serve as the melt-down alarm system.
Guys, we want this album to be packed with jarringly dissonant arpeggios, uninvited and off-key scale runs, wandering solos that would make Trey Azagthoth blush, and hack and slash song structures that will force the listener to flee for the sake of their own sanity.

Obviously, this approach is Imbrue's double edge sword. On the one hand, it elevates the music above brutality for brutality's sake. Unfortunately, only rarely does it actually add anything to the songs. It's pretty bizarre and totally intense. But, once you get over that, which you will, there's really not much else going on.
I'm at a loss to suggest this album to. It lacks the technical intricacies that tech-death fanboys so enjoy unraveling, but also fails to provide the vein popping machismo that the pit mongers require. It's just a weird fucking album, that I can pretty much only recommend to weird fucking people.
