Imperfect Like A God

Well holy hell. What do we have here? Another insane death metal act from Poland? From 2003? With five releases under their belt? So why the fuck haven't I heard anyone talking about this? Who are these guys, and where's the damn press kit?

I don't understand.

Rife with technical riffing with those beautiful and almost-mechanical sliding and tapping Cannibal Corpse guitar parts, Trauma serves up a flaming-hot slab of quality death metal. Outstanding solos with all sorts of tweaks and bends provide some great moments and really showcase the band's actual musical ability, while their unorthodox timing gives Imperfect Like A God real distinction. The title track features some catchy spaced-out and distant guitar parts in between bouts of pummeling you with the verses. There's even fucking genius basslines like at the beginning of "Beyond the Perception".  And yet, with all these dynamic factors coming together, it still manages to be more than brutal, thanks to the exceedingly immense growls and hoarse higher-pitched snarls. Imagine Vader if they weren't so homogenized and had a lot more to offer musically. Haha, so maybe more of a hybrid of the technicality of Psycroptic combined with the density of Behemoth.

I'm telling you, kids, this shit is worth the money it costs to track it down. It's good. Real good. So good that I feel satisfied just leaving this review as short and somewhat vague as it is. To anyone who's a fan of diversified death metal with topnotch songwriting and skilled musicianship, I urge you to go out and grab Trauma's Imperfect Like A God. Two big thumbs up. I'm just bitter I didn't get a hold of this earlier.
