I know what many of you might be asking yourselves. Why in the world is he reviewing a disc that's been out for 2 years already? Well, I have several reasons for dissecting this disc and I'll go through a couple of those reasons. First of all, as some of you know a Krisiun concert dissection was posted last week, and if you read our layout on the show you're aware that I personally thought Krisiun came across like a metal power-house. I also stated in that review that I wasn't very impressed with this release when I first picked it up a little over a year ago, but after repeated listening to this disc it's come together for me and it's fit perfectly in the recent rotation. The only thing I can boil it down to is that I didn't give this disc enough listens from the beginning. It's mainly because of these two reasons that I've chosen to go ahead and bring this two-year old disc to the fore-front, and hopefully I'll turn a few of you on to it's abrasive form of brutality. Brutality - a descriptive word you see constantly in metal reviews and bios whether it's at a webzine or in a magazine. I've used it plenty of times, but I stand behind each and every time that I've used it, and I always mean it in the truest form of the word. Therefore, I'm gonna use it again here and I stand behind this decision simply because that's what this album portrays. American influenced death metal, of the Floridian brand, performed by an angry Brazilian trio in search of conquering the weakest and most putrid poseurs out there. There won't be any need to compare them to any bands; I think the description in the previous sentence says it all. I can easily assure you that these guys are 100% metal. I can simply do this because at the show a couple of weeks back they were all about the crowd. Saying that without the loyal fan support they would be nothing. I know many bands have said this before many times, but I could tell these guys appreciated us as we completely respected what we were enduring. Strong-points - The drumming is incredible. It's done the way all extreme death metal fans expect it to be, and by that I mean it is performed fiercely and relentlessly. The speedy kicks are there along with plenty of fills, and all you blast-beat freaks out there will be happy because there are songs where Max Kolesne doesn't let up on the almighty blast from beginning to end. At first I found this to be quite annoying and it came across as overkill; however, after completely digesting the guitar parts on this one I see there's much more to offer here. The speedy and intricately picked riffs are obviously the result of some serious time and effort. With trickety changes galore, Moyses Kolesne (probably Max's brother) leaves the listener nothing short of satisfied. The vocal style by Alex Camargo is as extreme as any in death metal today not to mention that his bass/growl combo on stage is even more impressive. Weak-points - I can only think of two things I really don't care for. The first would be the production. The sound of this album is by no means horrible, but it could be a whole lot better. The mix just seems a bit muddy and lacks the required crispness. I haven't heard Ageless, Venomous, but I was told by a couple of different people that the sound quality on that one leaves much to be desired too. I guess I won't know until I hear it for myself. The only other thing I dislike is the lyrics. Even though they are as evil as anything out there and they are written well, the simple truth of the matter is as I read along I get bored quickly. The only reason I can come up with for this boredom is the fact that I've been reading lyrics like this for 17 years. If I'm going to take the time to actually sit down and read along I expect to get something out of the lyrics. Let's face it, lyrics just aren't important to a lot of people these days. Hell, have they ever been important? Who knows? I could probably sit here and go on and on and on and on and on about this disc, but I'll spare you all. The final prognosis I've come up with concerning this album is it is surely worth a listen. If the description I gave you in the second paragraph appeals to you, then don't pass this album up. Like I said, it didn't sink in right away with me, but after time it hit me with a BRUTAL vengeance. Favorite Tracks: Conquerors Of Armageddon and Hatred Inherit
