Second Sephira Cella

Diving into the experimental realms of ritualistic soundscapes with a theme inspired and constructed around Sumerian heritage, Equimanthorn's sophomore full-length, appropriately tagged Second Sephira Cella, parades a multitude of droning Middle Eastern driven passages enriched by spoken and whispered enunciations that are both enthralling and evoking in nature. Traces of synth and trance arrangements weave their way throughout as incantations of ancient ceremonies are resurrected before your very mind. A dark ambient atmosphere sets the mood as you are taken to another world far away from these misguided times.
Consisting of current and former members of Absu, Melechesh, and The Soil Bleeds Black, the newly reformed Equimanthorn project is a far cry from the blueprint utilized within the group's respective outfits. This is by no means black metal, if it could even be considered metal at all. Never, before this day, have I had such tribulations when it came to critiquing an album. This was an exercise in diligence that I will forever revere. The listen demands a wealth of patience to endure the disc and a considerably greater comprehension to actually enjoy it.
Dim the lights, spark up some incense, and ready yourself to be transported to a mystic time, aeons ago. Your imagination will deliver you there with Second Sephira Cella as the stepping stone. Once you arrive, Equimanthorn will navigate your senses on a mysterious odyssey alongside druids into the crypts beneath mythodical temples, where candlelit praises and chants to Sumerian deities will entrance you.
