You know what? This record is fine. It’s a damned fine record. It’s Emo Metalcore done just the way the masses like it. It’s luxuriously familiar, mouth-wateringly average and contentedly typical. It’s the kind of CD you give to your girlfriend if you are in Jr. High. Or your wife if you are 37. It doesn’t trouble you with style or vision. It’s Breadcore. Foreignertallica. Death Journey. The new Easy Listening for the new underground.

Can they play? Yeah. The singer is aping the style I always associate with Grey Matter or 3, but you might know it better as Deftones without the heavy breathing. The guitars like to hop between Maiden riffs and Converge crazy noises. The rhythm section is straight outta Killswitch Engage or In Flames or whoever.

Of course the production is good, although it could have been heavier.

So if you want more Metalcore with Emo vocals than you already own, this is your disc. There isn’t a damn thing wrong with it, and the first real song is pretty tasty. But it’s still just a sad happy meal, designed to be what you, the metal masses are eating this cycle. You can already hear that fuse lady interviewing these guys and getting bleeped every twelve seconds. "So whatup with the new BLEEEP album guys?" Right the fuck on. \m/
