Napalm Death
Order of the Leech
6.9
Napalm Death is a band that has been kicking ass for 15+ years and refuse to go quietly into the night. In fact this band has only gotten better with the passing years. After the release of Enemy of the Music Business in 2001, Napalm has shown that they are an ever growing powerhouse. Order of the Leech picks up where Enemy of the Music Business left off. Where was that you may ask, well showing a refinement in their speed and aggression, yet never losing what brought the band to the forefront so long ago. Anyone that has heard Napalm Death knows what to expect in the music department. Grinding riffs and crushing grooves dominate the noise blasting from your speakers. Jesse Pintado and Mitch Harris have always been able to smash your head into the ground and leave you begging for more. Shane Embury does a great job on bass as usual, throwing out great bass fillers that continue to crush the opposition. The drums are as tight as ever, and Barney Greenway continues to kick your ass on the vokills. His style, to me, has always been about no frills in your face aggression. This album is loaded to the brim with fast riffs, and exceptional grooves and should be enjoyed by any Napalm Death fan out there. Their lyrics flow along the same lines as usual expressing their disgust for humanity in general. Napalm Death has always followed along the lines of punk type lyrical subjects (which comes as no surprise since most of the band is old-school punk fans). Now you're probably going to look at my production score after you hear this album and say "What is he thinking? The production on here is pretty raw." I don't blame you because I'd probably be thinking the same thing at first also. The thing about Napalm Death though is could you imagine them with perfect production? I sure as hell couldn't. With that said, the production on this album, although it comes across as a little rough, is at the same time perfect for the band, hence the pretty good score. Anyways, this album is a crusher and should fit the metal collection of most quite nicely. This is the best Napalm Death album I've heard since. . . well. . . uhhh. . . Enemy of the Music Business, but in turn that was arguably their best release since Utopia Banished (in this reviewer's opinion) which was released in the early 90s. My suggestion, if you're a Napalm Death fan, then Order of the Leech is a MUST buy, and if you're new to Napalm Death, Order of the Leech is the perfect start to get into them!
